After many attempts, I think I have finally managed to record my first ever video tutorial.
After you learn this, it will only take you 4 minutes or less to implement it in your previous productions..... might be time to revisit those forgotten tracks!
The first in a series that will cover some fundamental trickery in electronic music production.
This episode is about Side-Chaining a Kick drum and a Bass Synth so that the volume of the bass is reduced when the kick is heard, thus allowing you to emphasize the kick and achieve a tighter mix and easier syncopation. It is widely used in modern electronic music, like for example, house music producers use it to get that punchy feeling into the groove. In Trance it is used to push the overall volume of the kick and bass to achieve thumpering bottom ends. When used in conjunction with your synths and vocals, you will soon realize the potential of this method of producution.
Use at your own discretion, but like always...don't overdo it!
